A SENSE OF PLACE

To celebrate the extensive works of Harry Gruyaert (Magnum Photos) and his collaboration with Tuur Florizoone, Aventura Musica presents a special reorchestration screening of films from the series A Sense Of Place, based on his photographic archives.
Over the past years Harry and Tuur have created 15 films (rhythmic slideshows consisting of carefully selected images accompanied by tailored compositions of Tuur) shown mostly in movie theaters and museums. For this upcoming special project, Harry and Tuur will create a new film combining images and scenes of the existing projects. The film will be projected on a big screen (indoor or outdoor). This immersive photographic and musical experience will be accompanied live by an ensemble led by Tuur: Etienne Plumer (drums), Nicolas Fiszman (bas), Ananta Roosens (violin, voice & trumpet) and Tuur Florizoone (accordeon & piano). The music is a combination of compositions and live improvisations on the colourful cinematic images.
The photo selection used for this project is a combination of rural, urban, industrial, and coastal landscapes worldwide—taken from the 1980s to the present, for commissioned or personal projects.
